SYNOPSIS:
Wide Country was an ambitious western drama set in the 1960's, starring Earl Holliman as champion all-around rodeo cowboy Mitch Guthrie and Andrew Prine as his younger brother Andy, an aspiring rodeo star himself.
The hard living, hard loving life of the professional rodeo circuit rider provides a colorful background to the struggles of the two brothers, with Mitch trying to discourage Andy from pursuing his ambition to emulate his older brother in the arena. Slim Pickens, a rodeo cowboy himself, makes several appearances in Wide Country, as do many notable guest stars, including Noah Beery, Jr. ( A Guy for Clementine), Claude Akins (Straight Jacket for an Indian), Don Collier (Our Ernie Kills People), Dan Duryea (Tears on a Painted Face), Edgar Buchanan and Alan Hale, Jr. (Good Old Uncle Walt), Ray Walston (The Girl with the Sunshine Smile) and Eddie Albert (The Judas Goat).
