NOTE: For those expecting the 1938 version to coincide with this release, there are some master issues with it so the Cecil B. DeMille effort will be coming out at a later date.

WARNER ARCHIVE: Constant Nymph, Spencer Tracy & Monogram

Unavailable for over sixty years, The Constant Nymph (1943) finally makes its way to DVD.

Starring Charles Boyer, Joan Fontaine, Alexis Smith and featuring Brenda Marshall, Charles Coburn, Dame May Whitty and Peter Lorre, Nymph is part of five titles that make up this week's Warner Archive releases.

Also out are three long-awaited Spencer Tracy films as well as a 3-disc Monogram Cowboy Collection (below).

TCM VAULT: Back Street (1941 / 1961) in September

More Universal titles, via TCM's Vault line, are on their way as the double feature Back Street (1941 / 1961) is now up for pre-order at TCM.com. Its release date is set for September 26th and no additional specs are known at this time.

Fannie Hurst's novel becomes a pair of classic melodramas in this twin bill.

Reunited in New York City years after their marriage plans were sabotaged, Margaret Sullavan discovers that Charles Boyer is now wed to another. Desperate to remain a part of his life, she agrees to become his mistress. With Richard Carlson, Tim Holt, Frank McHugh.

Back Street (1961)
Producer Ross Hunter's 1961 filming of Back Street stars Susan Hayward (in a career-defining role) as a woman who meets and falls for a handsome Marine (John Gavin) returning home from World War II. Fate brings them back together when Hayward moves to the Big Apple to start a fashion design career, but upon learning that Gavin now has a wife and child, she must stay in the shadows and is forced to accept her role as his mistress. Co-stars Vera Miles, Charles Drake, Virginia Grey.
