More Blu from Fox as they have announced an October 8th release date for On the Riviera (Blu-Ray).
Bonus features are expected to carry over from the DVD release.
Jack Martin (Danny Kaye), an American entertainer working cabarets on the French Riviera, does an impersonation of philandering industrialist Henri Duran (Kaye, again) so convincingly that even Duran's beautiful wife (Gene Tierney) is fooled by it. When Duran's business interests compel him to be in London when he should be hosting a large soiree at his home, Martin is persuaded to impersonate Duran at the party. But matters threaten to get out of hand when Martin (as Duran) is confronted by several of the philanderer's women, and by Duran's ruthless business rival, M. Periton (Jean Murat).

Warner Bros. is bringing two long out-of-print Samuel Goldwyn titles back to DVD: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947) and Stella Dallas (1937). Both have been remastered and will be released on December 10th.
No word on whether Blu-Ray versions are forthcoming, but the announcement by Warner is welcome news as Mitty, released in 1998 by HBO, has been out-of-print for about 10 years and Stella Dallas, released by MGM in 2005, has been unavailable for at least three years.
OLIVE: Penny Serenade, Only the Valiant Plus Hope & Kaye Comedies
Olive Films has announced a total of six new titles for late August, all of which are new to Blu-Ray. Of the pack, Penny Serenade (1941) and Only the Valiant (1951) will get both DVD & Blu releases.
Serenade, starring Irene Dunne and Cary Grant, will be most welcome as it should hopefully be the definitive release for the often abused public domain drama. Valiant, starring Gregory Peck and Barbara Payton, with a deep supporting cast, was previously released by Lionsgate.
The four below were released on DVD by Olive in 2010 & 2011 and are now scheduled for an upgrade to hi-def.

GOLDWYN: Wuthering Heights, Bishop's Wife & More in January
Back in April, we announced that Warner had acquired the rights to distribute 74 films from the Samuel Goldwyn library. Today, the studio made public the first six to
be released on standard DVD this January 15th.
Wuthering Heights (1939) and The Bishop's Wife (1947) will be the most welcome of the lot as they have proven to be the most scarce.
The other four are: The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), Guys and Dolls (1955), Hans Christian Andersen (1952) and The Pride of the Yankees (1942).
Almost all the bonus features will carry over from the previous HBO/MGM releases, and some will be added as in the case of Best Years which includes an introduction by Virgina Mayo and interviews with Virginia Mayo and Teresa Wright.
Retail will be $14.97 each, but they are all available at ClassicFlix.com for just $10.99.

Wasting no time with their recent acquisition of the Goldwyn library, Warner Bros. has announced Blu-Ray Book releases for Guys and Dolls (1955) and Hans Christian Anderson (1952).
Bonus features should be numerous, but are not forthcoming.

Olive Films has announced a March 8th release date for Off Limits (1953). The Danny Kaye military comedy also stars Dana Wynter, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Margaret Rutherford and Diana Dors.
Retail will be $24.95, but it's available at ClassicFlix.com for only $17.99. Bonus features are not expected.
White Christmas (Blu-Ray) in November

Paramount has announced a November 2nd street date for White Christmas (Blu-Ray).
It's carries over all the bonus features from the standard edition, however, most are in HiDef. Details below.

More is on the way from Olive Films with the today's announcement of two long-awaited spy-comedies: Bob Hope and Hedy Lamarr in My Favorite Spy (1951) and Danny Kaye's Knock on Wood (1954).

My Favorite Spy (1951)
While on his way to Tangier to purchase a microfilm containing important war secrets, foreign spy Eric Augustine (Bob Hope) is wounded and captured by the authorities. Burlesque comedian Peanuts White (Also, Bob Hope); a dead ringer for Augustine is recruited by the government to take over Augustine’s mission. He’s briefed in the role of the suave and romantic Augustine, dressed to look exactly like him and is thrust into the world of espionage and international intrigue. In Tangiers, he meets Lily Dalbray (Hedy Lamarr), Augustine’s sweetheart, a beautiful spy working with Karl Brubaker (Francis L. Sullivan) mastermind of the spy ring.
All of Bob Hope’s “My Favorite” films (My Favorite Blonde, My Favorite Brunette, My Favorite Spy) were parodies of classic genre films. Directed by Norman Z. McLeod (Topper, Secret Life of Walter Mitty).
Knock on Wood (1954)
The film casts Danny Kaye as a neurotic American ventriloquist performing in Europe. In a parody of the 1946 thriller Dead of Night, Kaye is unable to control the words coming out of his dummy, resulting in a near-nervous breakdown. His manager and best friend (David Burns) orders him to see a famous psychiatrist in Zurich. What follows is a zany adventure involving secret weapons, international spies and the beautiful Mai Zetterling. This classic Danny Kaye comedy was written, produced and directed by the great team of Norman Panama and Melvin Frank (The Court Jester).

Today's announcement should bring a joyful sigh of relief for those who held off buying last November's monster Hollywood Musicals Collection.
With a hopeful sign of things to come, MGM has announced that two titles from the set, A Song is Born (1948) and The Goldwyn Follies (1938), are being released as singles on April 7th (still M.I.A. as singles are Whoopee & Kid Millions). Also announced for the same day is Sonja Henie's first DVD release in the U.S., It's a Pleasure (1945).
No word on bonus features, but they're likely to very slim.
They will each retail for $14.98, but are available at ClassicFlix.com for only $10.99.
