Warner has announced a November 5th release date for two of their most prestigious Goldwyn holdings: The Bishop's Wife (Blu-Ray) and The Best Years of Our Lives (Blu-Ray).

Each will retail for $19.98, but will be available at ClassicFlix.com for only $15.99.

OLIVE: The Men, Miracle of the Bells, Three Faces West in April

Four more titles are coming from Olive Films on April 30th. This now brings the total of Olive's releases for April to 17!

All four will be released on both standard DVD and Blu-Ray. Non bold titles were previously released on DVD, while bold titles are making their DVD and Blu debuts.

They are:

• The Men (1950) - Marlon Brando, Teresa Wright, Everett Sloane, Jack Webb, Richard Erdman
• The Miracle of the Bells (1948) - Fred MacMurray, Alida Valli, Frank Sinatra, Lee J. Cobb
• Pals of the Saddle (1938) - John Wayne, Ray Corrigan, Max Terhune
• Three Faces West (1940) - John Wayne, Sigrid Gurie, Charles Coburn

GOLDWYN: Wuthering Heights, Bishop's Wife & More in January

Back in April, we announced that Warner had acquired the rights to distribute 74 films from the Samuel Goldwyn library. Today, the studio made public the first six to be released on standard DVD this January 15th.

Wuthering Heights (1939) and The Bishop's Wife (1947) will be the most welcome of the lot as they have proven to be the most scarce.

The other four are: The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), Guys and Dolls (1955), Hans Christian Andersen (1952) and The Pride of the Yankees (1942).

Almost all the bonus features will carry over from the previous HBO/MGM releases, and some will be added as in the case of Best Years which includes an introduction by Virgina Mayo and interviews with Virginia Mayo and Teresa Wright.

Retail will be $14.97 each, but they are all available at ClassicFlix.com for just $10.99.

More from the Republic library via Olive Films as they have announced Pursued (1947) for release on both standard DVD and Blu-Ray.

Streeting on August 21st, the debuting Blu-Ray will have a special pre-order price of $17.98 until Sunday.


Considered Hollywood’s first “western noir," Pursued was written by Niven Busch (Duel in the Sun) and co-stars Robert Mitchum (Out of the Past) as Jeb, a man emotionally scarred by his tragic past and inner demons.

Judith Anderson (Rebecca) plays Mrs. Callum, a widow who rescues Jeb when he was a child and raises him as her own with her two biological children. Making Jeb’s life even more complicated is the fact that he and his adopted sister, Thorley (Teresa Wright, Shadow of a Doubt) fall in love with each other, while his adopted brother, Adam (John Rodney) has come to hate him.

Dean Jagger plays Grant, a one-armed stranger who seems bent on tormenting Jeb, Alan Hale plays Jake Dingle, a casino owner who becomes Jeb’s business partner and Harry Carey, Jr. plays Prentice, a young man in love with Thorley.

Pursued features gorgeous black-and-white cinematography by James Wong Howe, rousing musical score by Max Steiner (Casablanca) and great direction by legendary director Raoul Walsh (White Heat).
