Sony Begins MOD Program With a Bang

Like Warner in March of 2009, Sony has entered the MOD DVD market with a bang by officially announcing 100 DVDs for release as part of its "Screen Classics by Request" program.

These "manufactured-on-demand" titles are intended for collectors and are currently only available for purchase at Sony's website and DeepDiscount.com. However, 57 of them (below) from the Golden Age of Hollywood will be made available for rent here at ClassicFlix in the coming weeks (look for them in the recent additions section).

While more classic films available on DVD is always great news, I want to prepare our rental members that in order to carry these Sony titles and other M.O.D. releases at reasonable levels, we will have to raise our membership fees starting next month. Members will be informed with a full explanation via email likely within the next week.
