SHOUT: Attack of the Puppet People Debuts on Blu

Shout! Factory has announced a November 14th release date for Attack of the Puppet People on Blu-Ray.

The 1958 horror film was originally put out on DVD back in 2001 with a rerelease in 2014, but this marks the first time it's appeared on Blu.

Bonus features are not forthcoming.

Holiday Inn Debuts 75th Anniversary Edition in October

Universal has announced an October 17th release date for the 75th anniversary edition of Holiday Inn (1942) on DVD and Blu-Ray.

KINO: Portrait of Jennie, Dawson City & More Arrive on Blu in October

Kino has announced October 24th as the release date for the Jennifer Jones and Joseph Cotten romantic drama Portrait of Jennie (1948) making its Blu-ray debut and an upgraded DVD. 

Also arriving, on October 31st, is the documentary Dawson City: Frozen Time on DVD and Blu. The film explores the discovery of a rare cache of classic films and premiered in April at the TCM Classic Film Festival. 

Kino will also debut a Blu-Ray of the German drama Titanic. Titanic arrives on October 19th.

VCI: Topper and One Million B.C. Arrive on Blu in October -- 3 Day Special Price

VCI has announced an October 31st street date for Topper (1937).

The spooky screwball comedy starring Cary Grant and Constance Bennett is making its Blu-ray debut.

Also arriving on DVD and Blu is the Hal Roach adventure film One Million Years B.C. (1940). The Victor Mature drama arrives October 17th.

Retail for both Blu-rays is $29.95, but they are available at ClassicFlix.com for only $21.99. However, for 3 days only (until August 24th), we'll have them for the special pre-order price of $16.98. The DVD of One Million B.C. will be offered at the same time for $13.98.

 

Bitter Tea of General Yen Arrives on Blu

Sony's debuts the war romance The Bitter Tea of General Yen (1933) on Blu-Ray for the first time via their Columbia Classics line.

The film stars Barbara Stanwyck and Nils Asther. It initially debuted on DVD via TCM Vault's Frank Capra box set in 2012. This is one of several Capra films being transitioned to Blu, with the director's Lost Horizon premiering on the format in October.

KINO: Jerry Lewis, Captain Marvel & More Arrive on Blu in September

Kino has announced September 12th as the release date for the Jerry Lewis comedy Visit to a Small Planet (1960) making its DVD and Blu-ray debut.


Also arriving on the same date is the sci-fi serial Tobor the Great, arriving for the first time on Blu and receiving an upgrade DVD.

Kino will also debut a Blu-Ray of the superhero serial Adventures of Captain Marvel. The complete twelve-episode series originally premiered in 1941 and arrived on DVD in 2008. Captain Marvel arrives on September 19th.

CRITERION: Vampyr Arrives on Blu-Ray in October

Criterion announced Carl Dreyer's Vampyr will debut on Blu-Ray in October with an upgraded DVD.

The German language horror film originally dropped on DVD in 2008 via Criterion.

Like its previous Criterion release the DVD will be a two-disc set while the Blu will be a single disc. Bonus features are below.

Vampyr arrives on October 3rd.
