VCI: Topper and One Million B.C. Arrive on Blu in October -- 3 Day Special Price

VCI has announced an October 31st street date for Topper (1937).

The spooky screwball comedy starring Cary Grant and Constance Bennett is making its Blu-ray debut.

Also arriving on DVD and Blu is the Hal Roach adventure film One Million Years B.C. (1940). The Victor Mature drama arrives October 17th.

Retail for both Blu-rays is $29.95, but they are available at ClassicFlix.com for only $21.99. However, for 3 days only (until August 24th), we'll have them for the special pre-order price of $16.98. The DVD of One Million B.C. will be offered at the same time for $13.98.

Another VCI release today as they've announced the 12 chapter serial Radio Patrol (1937) for release on August 25th.

The 2-disc set will retail for $19.99, but is available at ClassicFlix.com for only $14.99. No bonus features are expected.



SYNOPSIS:
When the inventor of a secret formula for flexible steel is murdered; it’s up to radio patrol cop Pat O’Hara (Grant Withers) and Molly Selkirk (Katherine Hughes) to protect the inventor’s son Pinky Adams (Mickey Rentchler) from being kidnapped by an international gang trying to get their hands on the formula. O’Hara must stop the leader of the gang, Tahata (Frank Lackteen), who has the power to turn men into zombies and do his bidding to retrieve the formula. Radio Patrol is a 12 chapter Universal serial based on the King Features comic strip “Radio Patrol” by Eddie Sullivan and Charlie Schmidt.

VCI has announced a June 30th release date for British Cinema - Crime and Noir. It will contain: Blackout (1950), Bond of Fear (1956), Home To Danger (1951), Meet Mr. Callaghan (1954), No Trace (1950) and Recoil (1953).

This set follows British Cinema Collection, Vol. 1 released last September as a "Classic B" collection and today's release of British Cinema Collection, Vol. 2 which is a "Comedy" collection. At least thus far, this Crime and Noir set has not been mentioned as Volume 3, but we'll keep you posted.

The 2-disc set will retail for $29.99, but is available at ClassicFlix.com for only $19.99. Bonus features are not expected.

In this tight little crime film directed by Robert S. Baker, a blind man’s (Maxwell Reed) sight is restored in time to solve the mystery of his girlfriend’s dead (or is he) brother and a gang of smugglers.

A man and his family on a caravan holiday in France are taken hostage by an escaped convict.

A drug dealer tries to kill his partner’s daughter, when she inherits an old house.

Jean Talbot poses as a crook to infiltrate the gang who killed her father.
