Another Man's Poison (1952) - "I'm Not Going, Janet"

Here's a clip from Another Man's Poison (1952), with Bette Davis and then-husband Gary Merrill.

If you haven't caught this one check it out on Blu or DVD. The restoration is tops!

SYNOPSIS:
In her first role since starring as Margo Channing in the Academy Award®-winning All About Eve (Best Picture, 1950), Bette Davis plays mystery writer Janet Frobisher, a cold and conniving woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants -- and what she wants at the moment is her secretary’s fiancĂ© Larry (Anthony Steel).

But Janet’s plan hits a snag when her estranged husband shows up unannounced after attempting to rob a bank. Her husband’s partner in crime, George (played by real-life husband Gary Merrill), further complicates matters for Janet when he pays her a visit later the same day. Getting rid of one of them proved easy. The other, not so much.

Filmed in England and co-produced by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Another Man’s Poison presents the dynamic Bette Davis at her devious and beguiling best.

Top 20 Actresses Meme

I picked up on the Siren's list a week ago, and viewed, among others, J.C. Loophole's and Laura's. So I thought I might chime in with my own top 20 actresses list. The list represents those who came to mind that I would watch just because they're in it, regardless of the quality of film.

Looking at other lists, some got no mention (Betty Hutton, Paulette Goddard and Eleanor Powell), while others got surprisingly very few (Jean Arthur and Jeanne Crain).

The Top 10 are in order with the rest in no particular order. Favorites are listed as well.
  1. Barbara Stanwyck (Ball of Fire, Meet John Doe, The Lady Eve & Many Others)

  6. Betty Hutton (The Miracle of Morgan's Creek, Star Spangled Rhythm, The Stork Club)
  7. Jeanne Crain (Pinky, Margie, Apartment for Peggy)
