Fox has really picked up the pace in their Blu output this year and the studio has decided to end 2013 with a bang by scheduling eight Blu-Ray (below) releases for December 3rd:

Also the bonus features from the DVD releases are expected to carry over (subtitles and dubbing too).

The buzz of the web for some time, Warner has officially announced their Jean Harlow 100th Anniversary Collection.

Although a Warner Archive release, and not a standard DVD set, it is still a throwback similar to the kind of sets Warner Bros. used to produce as it contains bonus features as well as having each title with individual cases and artwork.

Seven films on seven DVDs, this set is available for sale now at WBShop. The normal lag time of eight weeks for Archive titles is waved for this set some as we will have all seven available on November 1st.

SYNOPSIS:

Reckless (1935)
Harlow goes dramatic as a Broadway star accused of murder after the death of her high-living, high society hubby. With William Powell, the last real-life love of Harlow’s short life.

Riffraff (1936)
She works in a cannery. He’s a fisherman. But their playful romance is fated to give way to a tragedy surrounding union activism. She’s Harlow, he’s Spencer Tracy.

Suzy (1936)
Harlow, Cary Grant, and Franchot Tone are involved in a World War I triangle of romance and spy intrigue.

Personal Property (1937)
Debt-ridden socialite Harlow puts on a show of wealth to impress a suitor who’s also making a pretense of fortune. Robert Taylor is the butler who sees through the ruses.

Saratoga (1937)
In Harlow’s final film she plays the daughter of a horse breeder who is engaged to a millionaire, but drawn to a bookie played by Clark Gable.

MGM's Hi-Def output has moved into high gear as they've announced three more Blu-Ray's for release on May 10th: The Horse Soldiers (Blu-Ray), The Misfits (Blu-Ray) and Some Like It Hot (Blu).

Bonus features are not forthcoming, but with the low price points, they are likely to be slim.

Warner has announced the all-star cast Night Flight for release on June 7th.

The 1933 film stars John Barrymore, Helen Hayes, Clark Gable, Lionel Barrymore, Robert Montgomery and Myrna Loy and will be on a pressed disc for general release (not MOD).

It will retail for $19.98, but is available at ClassicFlix.com for only $14.99. Bonus features aren't forthcoming.

Warner has announced a November 16th release date for the Blu-Ray debut of Mutiny on the Bounty (1935).

The single disc Blu-Ray book release comes with all the bonus features on the previous standard edition, plus 30 pages of rare photographs and insight.

It will retail for $34.99, but is available at ClassicFlix.com for only $29.99.

SYNOPSIS:
HMS Bounty sails for Tahiti by way of Cape Horn... and into movie lore as an American Film Institute Top-100 American Films selection. Grandly filmed, Mutiny on the Bounty captured the 1935 Best Picture Academy Award and eight nominations total. Charles Laughton portrays Captain Bligh, a seafaring monster ruling with the law of fear.

Solidifying his status as Hollywood's #1 male star, Clark Gable is first officer Fletcher Christian, whose will to obey erodes under Bligh's tyranny. And Franchot Tone plays idealistic midshipman Byam, torn by his allegiance to both. T hat all three portrayals are vividly memorable is accented by the fact that for the only time in Oscar history, three stars from the same film were Best Actor nominees.
